As
a member of the track team of the TARHEEL
SPORTSCAR CLUB, I have formed close friendships with many very talented, knowledgeable
and fun folks who have, for the past few years, guided me from a pure novice to
at this time a level of knowing just enough to be dangerous. Although I'm not
proud enough of my competetive standings to post them, I can usually stay out
of last place, and overall am pleased with my progress. I am currently running
in the RED (Advanced/SOLO) group at HPDE's and hold a club Time Trial license.
This
past season (2007) I only participated in 2 events (gotta earn a living). There
are a lot more people in my class, mostly driving E36 M 3's. The current market
prices have made this car a no-brainer for anyone wanting a serious track playtoy
for under $15k. The mods available are endless, and the talent of some of the
participants have relegated me off the podium this year, but I am still reasonably
fast, and able to hold my own. I'm having a great time, so what the heck.
In 2005, I placed 3rd in my class (BSP), which pleases me very much, since I always
try to maintain a "margin" in my driving to minimize the chance for
disaster. I can feel the car working smoother, and I am definately getting faster
as I get used to the weight and feel of the car. I have a ways to go, but I definately
have moments of brilliance here and there that let me know just how good this
car is. WOW!!!
| The
2007 season is over, and already, the Track Team of THSSC is planning out the
2008 season.
