PURPOSE

This is a chronicle of events in the life of a '95 DINAN modified BMW M3, originally purchased in Texas, finding it's way to the Piedmont area of North Carolina to be used as a sometime daily driver and a HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) car and Time Trial car.

2/7/07 - I have owned this car for nearly 3 years now, and it is getting easier and easier for me to go faster and faster without upsetting the car or feeling like it is going to do anything but what I ask it to do. As the prices of the e36 M3's have dropped, it has become a very popular track car, and my club's BSP class is getting bigger and bigger, with some very talented people driving cars with varying degrees of modification. It has made my class quite competitive, and I have dropped further down the line. Last year was not a great year for me in terms of performance, but I went another year without hitting anything or breaking anything, so I'm pretty happy.

The only thing to be gained in our level of competition is a wooden plaque, so I'm not too keen on risking the car for that, nor am I ready to give up my day job, so I content to drive as fast as I feel comfortable driving, and staying within a couple of seconds of the fastest ones. The car is a blast!!

2005 THSCC Time Trial Series Results!! I ended the year with 3rd in my class (BSP).

It is not my intention to thrash this car at the edges of it's capabilities, as the risk factors outweigh the potential rewards (wooden plaques) as well as my ability and willingness to incur extensive repairs, but I wish to experience the car as it was designed and built to be driven, test my skills against the track and clock, and do the things they do in the TV ads that would get you thrown in jail in the real world.....

The more I drive this car, the more impressed I am by the overall "balance" this car has. I think my old E30 would suit me better as a full-out track car, but I've never experienced a car that does so many things so well. I'm havin' a good time.....
